Suspected bandits dressed in military uniform attacked
communities in Abbare, Lau local government area of Taraba
on Thursday, killing over 100 cows.
It was gathered that the gunmen stormed Abbare Community
yesterday around 12pm with military vehicles and
motorcycles with guns as they started shooting when the
cattle came back from their grazing at Abbare River.
Over 100 cows were killed and no fewer than 76 cattle’s
injured. According to NAN, David Misal, police public
relations officer (PPRO) in the state, made this known in
Jalingo, the state capital on Friday.
He said the command had deployed more policemen in the
area, adding that the divisional police officer (DPO) in charge
of the area had also been directed to investigate the matter.
He said more information would be released to the public as
soon as “clearer pictures” on the situation were received.
Speaking to Journalist, Muhammad Umar, a community
leader of Abbare village, said the gunmen invaded the area
around 1pm.
“In the process, the gunmen killed at least 100 cows and
maimed several others,’” Umar said.
