The Kogi State Government, through the
Ministry of Agriculture will hold her
Agricultural Summit, Friday, 26th January
2017.
The summit which focus on the theme:
“Moving Agriculture To The Next Level” is
scheduled to hold at Lokoja Township
Stadium.
The summit is expected to bridge the
opportunities for various stakeholders of the
Agricultural chain to rub minds on the green
sector.
According to the Commissioner for
Agriculture, Kehinde Oloruntoba, “Agricultural
activities is projected to generate 15% of the
2018 budget draft currently waiting passage
at the state’s assembly.
“In furtherance of this, the New Direction
Government of Governor Yahaya Bello is
stimulating activities to activate the
agribusiness chain, which is starting off with
the Kogi Agricultural Summit to consolidate
on the earlier gains made in the last one
year.
“The cream of the event would be a display
of various Agriculture Earth Moving
Equipment purchased to be deployed into
the sector to aggravate the necessary
results. From tractors to the various farm
sites Government has disposed for
agriculture and other benefits to be enjoyed
by Kogites willing to take agriculture to the
next level.
“The heated debate on ‘Cattle Colony’ will
receive adequate attention in the area of
stakeholder feedback. The Cattle Colony
plans are also to be expressly explained to
the farmers and the herdsmen who would be
playing vital roles. Members of the public
are invited to make their opinions on the
proposed Colony known on the date of the
summit for onward action. The event is to
kick off from 10am on Friday.”
