Kogi SSG Denies Letter On ‘Favoured Candidates’ For KSU Student Union Election

Dr. Ayoade Folashade Arike, the Secretary to
the Government of Kogi State (SSG) has
dissociated her office the letter purportedly
written to the Vice Chancellor, Kogi State
University, Anyigba on preferred candidates
for the forthcoming student union election in
the institution.
In a press release signed by the SSG’s
public relations officer, Olajumoke Obatomi,
Ayoade described the letter as a fraud.
She questioned the authenticity of the letter
as the signature appended to it is different
from hers.
“The existence of a letter in circulation on
the social media has been brought to the
notice of the Secretary to the Government
of Kogi State.
“The letter in question is on a clone of the
letter head of the office and is purported to
have been signed by Dr Mrs Ayoade
Folashade Arike, the Secretary to the
Government of Kogi State and addressed to
the Vice Chancellor, Kogi State University
Anyigba submitting to him, the names of the
preferred candidates ‘to fill the elective
positions in the forthcoming Students’ Union
Government Elections’, as directed by His
Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the
Executive Governor of Kogi State.
“The letter is a fraud. It was not written by
the SSG, neither does it bear her authentic
signature.
“The Administration of Governor Yahaya
Bello is built on the ideals of justice,
fairness and equity, and neither the
Governor, the SSG nor any of the New
Direction team member is interested in
imposing candidates on any group, students’
or not.
“Governor Yahaya Bello who is currently
fighting corruption in the State cannot be a
part of such filth. Therefore, the Vice
Chancellor, all staff of the University, and
the general public are urged to disregard any
such letter and advised to confirm the
authenticity of letters like that in future with
the SSG, if in doubt.
“Impersonation is a crime by the law of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria and the culprits
will be brought to book,” she said.
The controversial letter, which is being
circulated on the social media, instructed
the Vice Chancellor to ensure anointed
candidates emerge winners in the
forthcoming elections.
